COVID-19 VACCINATION UPDATE

COVID VACCINATION UPDATE

The NHS COVID-19 Vaccination Programme - Bolton

Message to our patients – update on the COVID-19 booster programme - The NHS and its partners are working extremely hard to roll out the COVID-19 booster vaccination programme to our communities.  All adults are eligible from Monday 13 December, and you will be able to book via the National Booking System from Wednesday 15 December.  You can book your booster for 3 months from the date of second vaccine, and you can access the National Booking System to book the appointment from 2 months. The NHS are working at pace to increase the availability of appointments so that there are plenty of options for people on the National Booking System. New appointments are being added every day across our vaccination services. Further availability will come online from Wednesday 15 December.  You can also attend a local walk in clinic - Vaccination Clinics from 10th December 2021

We will be working with all of our sites to take further steps to increase what they can offer again, including opening later and on more days.  All of these appointments will be added to the National Booking System and so we encourage everyone who is aged 18 and over, is yet to have their booster and who is approaching 3 months from your second vaccine to use the National Booking System to arrange your appointment when you are able to do so.  In terms of any planned appointments with the doctors, nurses and other clinical staff at the surgery, there are no changes at the current time and everyone should attend your planned appointments as normal. If we need to make any changes, we will contact you directly.

Message from Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)

  • The vaccination might not be delivered by your local GP surgery but at another location
  • When it is the right time for you, you will receive an invitation to come forward and told where to go and what to do
  • This will be in the form of a phone call, text message or letter, either from your GP or the national NHS.
  • Please do not contact your practice or other NHS service to get a Covid vaccination appointment – we will contact you when the time is right
  • Information on the vaccine is available on the NHS.UK website

Vaccinations are being delivered according to priority groups identified by the Joint Committee of Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI). The vaccinations may not take place at your GP practice, but instead at a local vaccination service (led by GPs, practice nurses and community pharmacists) who are responsible for delivering the vaccine to people in your community.

When it is the right time for you to receive your vaccination, you will receive an invitation to come forward. This may be via the phone, or through a letter either from your GP or the national booking system.

We know lots of people will be eager to get protected but we are asking people not to contact us to get an appointment as you will not be able to get one until you are contacted.
